Over the weekend, legendary Canadian interviewer Nardwuar suffered a stroke.
The news was posted to his Twitter and Instagram account late yesterday with a message that simply read “Saturday night @Nardwuar suffered a stroke @ Mint Party. He is recovering @ VGH More 2 come.”
According to The Georgia Straight, he is recovering in Vancouver General Hospital.
Born John Ruskin, Nardwuar, 47, has been an icon in music interviewing in his native Vancouver, British Columbia. Since the ’90s, he’s been showcasing his skills and most recently has grown a huge following on YouTube. His method of giving interviewees retro vinyls and trinkets from their hometowns sparks pure excitement and leads to never-before-heard stories, making him such an asset to the music-media industry.
