Frank Sinatra Jr., has passed away at 72. Sinatra was on his “Sinatra Sings Sinatra” tour and was scheduled to perform at the Peabody Auditorium this evening when the announcement on the venue’s Facebook page said he was ill.

Sinatra’s manager Andrea Kauffman confirmed the singer passed away at a Daytona Beach, Florida, hospital. Singer Nancy Sinatra announced on her Facebook page that the cause of her brother’s death was cardiac arrest.

Sinatra had followed in his famous father’s footsteps as an entertainer. Sinatra, whose voice and looks resemble his father’s, released about a half dozen album and started touring at the age of 19. Though he never reached the same level of stardom as his father, Sinatra Jr. identified the reasons behind it. “I think in my generation, when I came along in the early ’60s, the type of music that was in vogue in society in those days had moved on to another kind of music,” Sinatra told the Guardian. “I was trying to sell antiques in a modern appliance store.”

Celebrities like Larry King and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane paid their respects via social media.

Our thoughts are with the Sinatra family during this difficult time.
