Kodak Black is one of the hottest rappers in Florida and a rising star in the rap game. He’s built his following on social media and while his music might not be for everyone, there’s videos of Kodak performing to crowds who know every single lyric to his songs. When Dr. Luke isn’t fighting rape allegations, he’s apparently losing staff at his label. “Kemosabe Records and Sony elected to downsize certain departments,” they said. “Some of those functions will be handled by Sony as part of their joint venture relationship. DJ Khaled has been making moves. He recently signed a label deal with Epic Records for his “We the Best” imprint. His album Major Key will likely be out this year and has already gotten it’s first big collaboration, an alleged song with Jay-Z and Future. Khaled also had a statement about why he designed to sign with the label.
It is a very satisfying feeling to realign myself with someone who shares my vision of bringing fans the best music possible. When I think about Epic Records the first thing that comes to mind is Michael Jackson’s Thriller. An iconic artist with an iconic album and iconic logo. In short I’d like to thank all the people behind the scenes that helped make this partnership a reality.
