We didn’t get visits like this when we were in high school, that’s for damn sure.
Erykah Badu surprised a cafeteria full of high school kids this past week. As part of the Future Project Initiative, Erykah spoke to students at the Malcolm X Shabazz High School in Newark, N.J.
She also performed her 1997 classic “On & On,” her remix of Kanye West’s “Real Friends,” and previewed a song from her forthcoming new mixtape.
Last night, Erykah found herself a trending topic when she tweeted an article about a school ruling that young girls have to wear longer skirts so they’re not a distraction to male teachers. And all hell broke loose.
Moral of the story, E. Badu loves the kids. Watch Erykah’s high school visit up top.
