Rob Kardashian has been winning in 2016, but it’s very rare to hear his side of things.
The star of the upcoming E! reality series Rob & Chyna is finally opening up about all the dark moments he found himself in before finding love and happiness with fiancée Blac Chyna. He revealed to PEOPLE, “She got me through my darkest times. I wasn’t happy in my own skin. I missed out on so many things.”
The past few years were dark times for Rob indeed. He had become a depressed recluse right before our eyes, skipped out on sister Kim‘s wedding because of his weight, and was diagnosed with diabetes last year. Then along came Chyna to help put the pieces back together. He told the mag, “I’ve been friends with Chyna for a long time. She was someone I reached out to for advice. She would cook for me and we’d just talk. She’s surrounded me with a lot of positivity. From the moment we met, I knew I wanted to be more than friends.”
Chyna admitted that she “saw Rob was willing to better himself. I had never wanted to be tough. I never wanted to change him.”
But the only Kardashian boy appreciates everything his fiancée does for him, saying, “Chyna definitely motivates me. Being with her got me over the insecurity of being out in public.”
Rob continued, “We just want to live our lives the way we want to. There were definitely dark days for me, and I’m still not fully happy looking at myself in the mirror. But I’m working towards that. And I’m happy.”
Catch the premiere of Rob & Chyna on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 9 p.m on E!
