The first family celebrated their last Thanksgiving eve in the White House by offering a helping hand and serving dinner to veterans.
The Obama’s took part in an early Thanksgiving dinner at the Armed Services Retirement Home in Washington, DC, serving sliced turkey and gravy to retired service members.
All four Obama’s were in tow on Wednesday night after Malia and Sasha had missed their father’s annual turkey pardoning earlier that day. President Obama joked that his daughters had skipped the event because they “couldn’t take my jokes anymore.”
The first daughters’ disdain for their father’s jokes didn’t stop the president, however, who told a small crowd that the two turkey’s he pardoned would be riding the “gravy train to freedom.”
This Thanksgiving is sure to be a special one for the Obama’s as they prepare to leave the White House for good, and while many Americans wish they wouldn’t, the holidays are a special opportunity to gives thanks for everything President Obama, Michelle, and their two daughters did for the United States.
