Charlamagne Tha God‘s career is flourishing right before our eyes — so much so that now he’s ready to talk about his pesky beef with Wendy Williams.
In his new memoir, Black Privilege, the radio and TV personality explains what ended his business relationship and friendship with his former mentor. C Tha God revealed that it was an incident with Wendy’s husband, Kevin Hunter. After being fired from Wendy’s radio show almost nine years ago, not by Wendy but because of “politics,” Kevin agreed to rep him in negotiations for a new job in Philadelphia. Charlamagne says that he was initially offered 70k, but Kevin aggressively insisted that the new employer pay him 350k. He wrote in the book, “He was always extremely aggressive in trying to get more money out of situations. He’d yell at and often threaten people till he got what he wanted. I can’t lie: It’s worked for him with Wendy. But it wasn’t how I wanted to do business.”
Charlamagne also said when he told Kevin that he would accept 75k, Kevin was livid and even sent Charlamagne a text saying, “I’m not f*cking with you anymore. You did some foul sh*t. Lose my number.” C Tha God added, “As for Wendy, she is the ultimate ride-or-die chick. I know she feels she has to have her husband’s back and I have to respect that. One thing I learned not to do from watching her was to treat the people who work for you poorly. Wendy and Kev could be very cruel to the people who worked under them.”
