As our very own Xilla Valentine pointed out in a recent interview with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, Black folks are constantly debating whether grits are supposed to be sweet or salty. Now, the cast of Dear White People joins the conversation in celebration of Juneteenth, while also making an important announcement about season 3 of their groundbreaking series.
”For those of you who eat sugary grits, you need rehabilitation,” actress Antoinette Robertson emphatically tells the camera. I agree. In the end, though, the vote for salty vs. sweet is tied, so it seem this great debate will never end. But the good news is: Dear White People returns to Netflix August 2. For those of you who’ve never watched, a quick synopsis courtesy of Netflix sums the show up pretty nicely…
”Students of color navigate the daily slights and slippery politics of life at an Ivy League college that’s not nearly as “post-racial” as it thinks.”

A moment of unexpected joy & gratitude. While announcing nominees for the 50th @naacpimageawards, I saw my name on the teleprompter for what is my first nomination as an actress. Being included is an honor, and one of the most surreal manifestations of God’s work & my family’s sacrifices and support. This.. all alongside nominations for✨@dearwhitepeople✨ and ✨@jsim07✨ for his mastermind writing! Delighted I shared the moment/day with the kindest & most gifted @winstoncduke 🤵🏿🙅🏽♀️ 2/13/19; I’ll never forget!
