Katy Perry has been mum since reports surfaced on December 30th that Russell Brand was filing for divorce from the Teenage Dream singer.

After nearly two weeks of silence, Katy finally spoke up via two very poignant tweets.
In one tweet, Katy addresses her fans and thanks them for their support, but in another, she parallels her parents with the media:
Earlier this week, Katy’s minister parents addressed their congregation and said that they loved their child and supported her, but maybe the divorced happened so that other could find their congregation:
“I love my daughter and I will always love her. Stop being judgmental and critical. Do not close the doors to your loved ones, especially your children. What has taken place in my daughter’s life has opened many opportunities to go in and be with guarded and gated people.”

Katy’s tweets are the first we have heard for either of the two since the divorce was announced, but we are glad to see that Katy is on her way to making her heart happy again.
