Well that escalated quickly!
Tensions between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey came to a boil on Wednesday’s episode of American Idol. Nicki stormed off the stage screaming after what looked like a little disagreement with the other judges.
According to Radar Online, Summer Cunningham’s audition was the spark that lit the flame; the 20-year-old American Idol hopeful performed “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers and stated that she had done “the country thing” in her musical past.
The comment annoyed Idol judges Keith Urban and Mariah Carey. Urban said:
“I always get thrown when people say they have ‘done the country thing’…it’s like saying you ‘did the brain surgeon thing’— either you are a brain surgeon or you’re not.”

Mariah and Randy Jackson were quick to agree, leaving Nicki to come to Summer’s defense.
“Why are we picking her apart because of a country comment?” Nicki said. “I feel like we’re going into, ‘Are you country, are you country, do you like country?’ … You guys make comments about everybody in popular music all day … not you Keith … Randy and Mariah.”
Nicki’s annoyance with her fellow judges continued as they defended their comments.
“I’m sorry, it’s just that that’s what I do, Nicki,” Mariah said. “So when I’m making comments, I’m trying to help her, as opposed to just talk about her outfit.”

Wow, Mariah! Harsh. No worries though, Nicki was quick to snap back. Unfortunately, as the tiff continued, a defeated and angry Minaj left the stage, shouting:
“Oh, you’re right. I’m sorry I can’t help her. Maybe I should just get off the f**king panel! Let me get off the panel”
Damn, girl. Can’t we all just get along? We hope the rest of the season goes better for Nicki and her fellow judges. Check out the video of Nicki’s meltdown above.
