This track is a cut off Coldplay’s new album Mylo Xyloto which hits stores October 24. The Barbadian beauty duets with frontman Chris Martin, singing, “I could have been a princess, you’d be a king/ Could have had a castle and worn a ring, but no, you let me go.”
Chris Martin told Rolling Stone magazine, “We had this song called ‘Princess of China’ about two years ago that I always was secretly wanting to offer to Rihanna to sing…the sweep of the album came together and this song really fit as a sort of damaged loved song, and so after about six months of not feeling brave enough, we finally made contact with her and asked if she’d sing on it.”
