For those of you who are skeptical about the effectiveness of the United State’s foreign policy approach in regards to nuclear proliferation, you may want to reassess your judgment.

Today both Iran and North Korea delivered relieving statements that compliment the foreign policy efforts of President Obama and the U.S. Department of State.

Iran announced in a statement by its Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Fereidoon Abbasi that it was not conducting any atomic activity.

Good news also came out of North Korea today, with the U.S. State Department’s spokeswoman Victoria Nuland announcing that North Korea is halting all nuclear activity and has agreed to let UN inspectors into the country, as reported by the Associated Press.

This is all great news for those of us who fear a nuclear weapon being in the hands of some of the most tyrannical and undemocratic regimes in the world.

Though today provided great news, we must not forget the countries before today that halted their nuclear weapon prospects because of pressure from our government.
