New Music Released This Week (Sep 25 – Sep 29):

1. AKS – Seasons Change

Source:AKS - Topic

Following the release of his last single, the heart-warming exploration of Black fatherhood, ‘Parity’, which was supported by the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC 1xtra (Track of the Week), KISS FM, Amazing Radio, Wordplay Magazine, and GUAP Magazine among others, London-based, independent hip-hop artist and producer AKS (pronounced “Ay-Kay-Ess”) aka the “three letter man” returns with his latest single, “SEASONS CHANGE“, as he continues to tease towards his long-awaited third project, As Plane As Day: Departures & Arrivals.

The London native who’s garnered a recent boost in popularity following his impromptu involvement in many Open Verse challenges via Instagram & TikTok, changes tact to deliver a compelling and nostalgic homage to the songs that played backdrop to the years of his adolescence and the unfolding friendships that have left an indelible mark on his musical journey.

Leaning into his trademark poetic storytelling with “Seasons Change”, AKS delivers a deeply melodic offering that transcends time, beautifully capturing the essence of evolving and endurant relationships. Inspired by the ebbs and flows of life, this heartfelt offering is a sincere reflection on the power of true friendship, weathering difficult and uncertain circumstances but standing the test of time through the seasons of our lives.

Featuring a talented ensemble of musicians, “Seasons Change” boasts a rich musical tapestry that brings its narrative to life. Co-produced by the “Three-letter man” himself under the veiled moniker, #3Letters, and renowned producer Self-Taught Beats (Alesha Dixon, Wretch 32, Yolanda Brown) the infectious production pays tribute to classic songs of the late 90s UK Garage/2-step scene while bringing a fresh perspective to the forefront.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Seasons Change’, AKS says, “I wanted to create something that was indicative of the songs that helped me to fall in love with music and the art of emceeing back in the days when my entry point was Pirate Radio and missed calls for a wheel up. I wanted the song to slot in next to the classics I wished I was old enough to rave to and not feel out of place and in many ways it’s a homage to the soundtrack of my youth, in the same way that it’s a wave to the kids we were in the school playground with lofty dreams of who we’d grow up to be, the adolescents getting up to mischief and having run ins with the law, or the young adults who would put their hand in their pocket and pool resources to try further our ambitions.”

Unpacking the record further, AKS adds that Seasons Change is “…for all the true bredrins that know that even though the seasons may change, and we’re all in different places in our lives…the love is always gonna be the same!”

Choral vocals, by rising TikTok sensation Deborah Bahi, add an ethereal layer as the song concludes, gracefully enveloping in a wave of emotive resonance. Ade Keys, a masterful pianist and keyboardist, adds layers of harmony and melody that enhance the song’s depth and emotional impact. Brass contributions by Adam Chatterton & Samuel J Freeman inject vibrant and nostalgic bursts of energy, enhancing the song’s dynamic range.

Seasons Change” is available for streaming/download on major digital platforms and serves as a great indicator for the further singles AKS has slated for release as he continues towards the concluding project of his Modes of Transport series.

As an artist deeply rooted in London’s thriving music scene, AKS’ “Seasons Change” not only pays homage to the artists and sounds that influenced him but also invites listeners to embark on a journey of reflection and connection. Through this single, AKS invites us to revisit the moments that shaped our lives and celebrate the enduring bonds that have withstood the test of time.

Riding an unstoppable wave of momentum, today Philadelphia’s emerging sensation, TOURE, unveils his latest single, “Room 303” featuring the multi-platinum crooner, Yung Bleu. Additionally the West Philadelphia representative proudly announces his third project in just 11 months, Life Of The Party, set for release on October 13th via DOPE Records.

Known for fusing lithe vocals and percussive flows, TOURE takes a captivating leap by collaborating with another melodious artist for the very first time. During the chorus, Yung Bleu’s [Drake, Chris Brown, 2 Chainz] signature vibrato sensually glides over guitar-laden HitKidd production [GloRilla, Megan Thee Stallion, Gloss Up]. TOURE’s charm flows through each verse as he invites his muse back to his hotel room to romantically rekindle their flame.

This enchanting single serves as a preview of TOURE’s upcoming project, Life Of The Party, poised for release on October 13th. It marks his third project in 11 months, pushing him to the forefront of the conversation on emerging artists to watch. In a recent interview with Talk Of The Town he shared his insights, “Independent artists, without a fanbase – I want to buy into you, you got to sell yourself. I remember the beginning of Future dropping project after project after project. That shit builds your character. Then you end up with 12 singles that you could go perform that people actually know when you put out a lot of music. When you put out one single, you go on stage, do that one song, and nobody knows the rest of your set.”

TOURE’s recent accomplishments include an eye-opening freestyle on Bars On I-95 showcasing his expertise with wordplay. Additionally, he achieved a sold-out headline concert at the iconic Theatre of Living Arts presented by DOPE Shows in partnership with Live Nation. Proving himself as a leading force in Philadelphia’s rap culture, he performed for 1.5 hours boasting an impressive catalog and undeniable mainstream appeal. TOURE floated through track after track including “Out West” from World Toure, “A.T.R.N.” from Only 4 The Trenches, “Game Time” from Hood Poetry, “Kisha” from ALL I WANTED WAS EVERYTHING, and closed out the show with “Federal” as the crowd roared. After attending the spectacle, Secret Philadelphia praised, “To not only bring people together like one big melting pot, but to also create that kind of vibe is downright powerful.”

The impact of his previous EP, ALL I WANTED WAS EVERYTHING, was immediate upon release, catapulting to the Top 40 on the Apple Music HipHop Albums Chart. High-profile endorsements poured in from Armani White, James Harden, Meek Mill, Tee Grizzley, Tierra Whack, Wallo267, and more applauding his unique style of storytelling from the trenches. The EP plays out like an audio map that guides you through all of TOURE’s songwriting multitudes. Tracks like “KISHA” exude swagger and confidence, while “AIN’T WANNA LEAVE”  delves into raw emotion, featuring a poignant collaboration with EST Gee. His mastery of entrancing melodies glisten brilliantly over “Can I F*ck Again” as his lyrical prowess create a blueprint for pursuing an ex. Then on “I Got U” he takes inspiration from the cult-classic video game Grand Theft Auto, reflecting on his rich lifestyle with his raps.

Before this impressive journey, TOURE had already released a series of compelling bodies of work, including Hood Poetry (2022), Only 4 The Trenches (2021), and World Toure (2018).  Stay tuned to TOURE’s remarkable growth as an artist as his presence continues to expand, solidifying his status as a formidable talent to watch.

6. Anella Herim – Tennessee Love Song

Source:NELLA

Singer, songwriter, rapper Anella Herim was raised in Trinity, North Carolina, where he was born on Nov. 22, 2001.  His father worked in the church as the worship leader and with his encouragement, Anella started playing drums at age four.  By the time he entered his freshman year of high school, Anella had joined the chorus and discovered the GarageBand app.  He began recording his own music at home using just his iPhone and headphones.  Working a typical job was unfulfilling to the emerging young artist, so he started turning his talent into income by playing at local bars and restaurants.

In early 2020, while playing at the Boxbar Arcade in Greensboro, Anella was approached by Malik Clark of Definitely Out Grinding Records (D.O.G Records).  By July, Malik had signed up Anella to perform at the No Stress Fest in Winston-Salem.  There he first met DJ ESudd, and the two started working together soon after.  “I feel Anella is a breath of fresh air to the world,” said DJ ESudd.  “Not only is the music soul touching but his personality is also amazing.”

At least 90% of Anella’s music is self-produced, but he has also worked on records with good friend Kamen Della (KD Got Tha Vibes), and mega producer D.A. Got That Dope.  “My music is relatable,” says Anella, “pleasing and at times, it can be indescribable. I just want to touch people with my music.” Anella, who partnered with Def Jam Recordings in June 2022, is now doing music full time.  But he also enjoys hanging out with friends, who are part of his creative process, and traveling especially when it is to perform for fans.  With his undeniable talent, insane work ethic, and a solid team around him, Anella Herim is ready to take on the world.

Camino has had a long-standing affiliation with BSF and Griselda over the years, and he has been a frequent and valued contributor to both of the trend-setting crews.  Not long after the release of Long Live DJ Shay, Benny The Butcher announced that he had officially signed Elcamino to his BSF imprint.  Benny and Camino christened that announcement with the release of a joint single and video for, “80’s Bills,” which served as his first official BSF release.

Now, Elcamino has announced his first BSF album, They Spit On Jesus, which will be released on 10-6-23.  After announcing the new album with the project’s first focus track, “Victory” featuring Wu-Tang Clan’s legendary Inspectah Deck, Camino has now released the album’s first video “Neva Gone Change.”  You can watch the video for “Neva Gone Change” below.

9. Floor Space – Self Destruct

Source:Floor Space - Topic

Following their recent single “Smile While Its Ending,” the group brings us an honest and unfiltered approach to the human experience with new single “Self Destruct” out this Friday, produced by John Naclerio. (My Chemical Romance, Brand New).

The track will appear on their forthcoming album Maybe This Is It out October 20. Would love to grab your thoughts on covering the track in some capacity!

In a very Jack White style, frontman Charlie Bruno channels his anger and heartbreak that’s led him to his breaking point of self destruction.

With a catchy bassline, captivating riffs and a melody that transports back to early 2000’s with a modern twist, Floor Space uses their alternative, pop rock inspired sound paired with a compelling mix of truth and humor to tell tales of unhealthy coping mechanisms, what it feels like to go ‘off the rails’ and the healing nature of writing.

11. Robert Finley – Nobody Wants To Be Lonely

Source:Easy Eye Sound

Robert Finley released “Nobody Wants To Be Lonely” the third single from his highly anticipated album, Black Bayou, due October 27 via Easy Eye Sound. To celebrate the single release, Robert Finley debuted a music video premiered by The FADER.

“Nobody Wants To Be Lonely” is a timeless southern soul classic, premiered today with The FADER, the track showcases sweet R&B guitar licks, funky laid back drums, which groove while Finley’s boundless falsetto lifts us up with messages of resilience and hope in the face of isolation and the cruel hands of time.

“This song is about the many people who have been forgotten,” Finley explains. “Their kids drop them off and go with their lives. I go down occasionally and perform at the old folks home in Bernice. Just take my guitar and play for thirty minutes or so, try to get them to dance, try to bring some joy to them.”

Finley recorded Black Bayou at Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound Studio in Nashville. It’s the fourth time the duo have worked together, although for this record they did things a little differently. Rather than write songs beforehand—as they did on 2017’s Goin’ Platinum and 2021’s Sharecropper’s Son—they conceived everything in the studio, with Auerbach leading a band of some of the finest players around: drummers Patrick Carney(The Black Keys) and Jeffrey Clemens (G. Love & Special Sauce), bassist Eric Deaton, and legendary Hill Country blues guitarist Kenny Brown along with vocalists Christy Johnson and LaQuindrelyn McMahon—who just happen to be Finley’s daughter and granddaughter. They worked quickly, devising their parts spontaneously and getting everything in one take.

Black Bayou, is a portrait of North Louisiana from an insider who’s lived there all his life. It coalesces all of the vibrant genres bubbling in the bayou from southern soul, jazz, folk, blues, rock and roll and more. A vivid collection of songs that depict life in North Louisiana, with Finley playing the role of charismatic and knowledgeable tour guide. Tales include surviving the jaws of an alligator on “Alligator Bait,” a true story of his grandfather using him as bait to catch an alligator when he was a child. Songs like “Miss Kitty,” a tale of lust and love are an instant induction into the canon of the blues tradition. In all, a collection set to establish Finley as perhaps one of the last true bluesmen of our time and a truly original Louisiana storyteller who evokes the place and its unique culture for the rest of the world.

“It’s amazing to realize how much of an impact Louisiana has had on the world’s music,” says Dan Auerbach, “and Robert embodies all of that. He can play a blues song. He can play early rock and roll. He can play gospel. He can do anything, and a lot of that has to do with where he’s from.”

If Finley’s previous albums established him as a formidable blues and soul artist – overcoming losing his sight in his 60s to become a music star – Black Bayou, Finley hopes, will help put North Louisiana on the musical map and launch the next generation of stars. Finley still plays small clubs around the region—even the occasional nursing home. Rather than move to where the music industry is, Finley is bringing the industry down to Bernice and working to boost regional acts and has plans for a new local recording studio in the works. “We got a lot of good talent down here in North Louisiana, but nobody’s really done much with it.” Finley stated, adding, “A lot of people just haven’t had the opportunity to record—or even just be heard. It worked for me, so I might as well try to help someone else get discovered, too.”

13. Armani White – REDEYE TO PHILLY. (Freestyle)

Source:Armani White

Profound, yet buoyantly energetic, Armani White wants to trademark happy hood music. Pairing dexterous flows with dense introspection and spurts of impassioned melodies, the 26-year-old delivers a colorful, but poignant soundtrack for survivors.  On the freewheeling “Billie Eilish,” he lets loose, fusing zany wordplay with machismo he earned from his upbringing in West Philadelphia, where he soaked up the sounds of Ludacris, State Property and Eminem. The fledgling young MC, who grew up in a troubled home and found healing in beats and bars, took to spitting lyrics from his favorite rappers when he played outside with friends. At age 11, Armani and a friend began using trial versions of Mixcraft to compose their first tracks.  After winning both Class Clown and Most Likely to Be Heard a Mile Away in his high school yearbook, the idea of a rap career quickly crystallized. “Stick Up” (2015) was a pulsing boom bap single coated in braggadocio and comical flashes of danger. The video netted tens of thousands of views, and Pharrell even played one of Armani’s songs on his Beats 1 Radio show. But the back-to-back tragedies of his father’s death of cancer, and his uncle’s killing put his musical plans on hold for a couple years.  He re-emerged with the lighthearted but existential “Public School” (2018), and Keep in Touch (2019), a project that reaffirmed his all-around songwriting abilities. Soon Armani was hitting the stage for shows with Vince Staples, Nas, James Blake and Aminé, to name a few.  Armani’s next EP, Things We Lost In The Fire (fall 2021) addressed personal tragedy with unflinching transparency. It was the prelude to “Billie Eilish” in the new year, and the deal with Def Jam in the bargain.  “The reason why I call my songs happy hood music is because I went through a lot of trauma and pain,” Armani says, “and I take that dark, murky color, throw it at the wall and watch a rainbow come out.”

The live shows will expand on the healing journey that 6LACK set out to convey with the project. An intimate one that both sheds light on the highs and lows of his life, and pulls from his firsthand experiences with mental health, recovery, self-improvement, and love.

He was later catapulted into stardom in 2018 with the arrival of his critically acclaimed album, East Atlanta Love Letter, which hit No. 1 on the Top R&B Albums and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

The revered artist has amassed over 7.8 billion global streams across platforms while also giving the world some of the biggest hits from the past decade through explosive collaborations with some of today’s most beloved artists including J. Cole, Future, Selena Gomez, Young Thug, Timbaland, Normani, Isaiah Rashad, Rita Ora, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Baby, Khalid, Jessie Reyez, Nao and many more. Source:4L JAVI

Emerging SoCal rapper and singer, 4L Javi, returns with his new single, “Face Card.” Produced by Flaugo, the track features Javi’s lyrical finesse as he flows over melodic piano keys and deep, haunting bass lines. Known for his previous hits “Jordan Poole,” “Playboy,” and “Models,” Javi seemingly embraced the image of a charismatic ladies’ man. The rapper often paints a vivid picture of a young artist relishing in the perks that come with the journey to stardom; a repetitive whirlwind of packed performances and club appearances, replete with flowing drinks and beautiful women. However, “Face Card” takes a more introspective turn as Javi wrestles with inner conflicts, musing on feelings of longing and nostalgia for a love life left behind, as he raps, “I miss my love life, now it’s the club life.” The track captures the relatable complexities of coping with heartache while seeking solace and distraction in the clubs and parties that surround him.

31. Tymain Robbins – Fashionably Late

Source:Tymain Robbins - Topic

North Carolina emcee and creative Tymain Robbins reveals his debut album ‘Fashionably Late’ which is a testament and journey for him to showcase not only his story but also his amazing talent in curating music. The main story of my upcoming album revolves around self-discovery and personal growth. Each track is a chapter in this narrative, with themes of overcoming, determination, and finding one’s true purpose. For fans of artists like J. Cole, Nas, and Jay-Z should find solace in Tymain Robbins.

“I also watched this Russ interview where he quoted something from John Mayor. He mentioned, “if you wait too long to drop your own songs you’re late to your own party”. That saying really stuck with me,” Tymain said. He continued with, “I’m an artist who has held on to years of music trying to create the perfect project, and it’s caused me to not drop much. The interview made me realize that during this time I’ve forced myself to be late to my accomplishments, celebrations, current fans enjoying new music, and new fans discovering me. So, I decided that if I’m late to my party then I at least need to arrive in fashion.”

The overall LP is based on a diverse amount of topics coming from the words of Tymain himself.  The tracks that are the focus on this project are “Fashionably Late,” “Denim Tears,” and “Endless Possibilities.” “Fashionably Late” is about coming back after a hiatus and being better than ever due to the amount of work you put in over the off-season. “Denim Tears” plays on the title of the project, is filled with confidence and this song is about the embodiment of everything in your genes.  “Endless Possibilities” is about overcoming adversity and finding strength within ourselves. It’s one of those, “if I can do it, so can you” records.

His recent Rolls Royce activation event is an example of how he extends his creativity to outside the studio. The Rolls Royce listening event was inspired by the luxurious and sophisticated nature of the album. “I wanted the event to match the grandeur of the music and provide fans with a unique and memorable experience,” he said. “The Rolls Royce symbolizes both success and class, which aligns with the album’s themes of ambition and self-improvement. I really just wanted to do something different that I haven’t seen before.”

Singer and songwriter Jonah Kagenshares his new single/video, “Pollution,” out today on Arista Records. The accompanying music video, which is also out now, was shot in one-take by David Od.

Following his recent hit single, “The Roads,” “Pollution” arrives as another stunning display of Jonah’s distinct acoustic-driven sound. Enveloping listeners with a blend of dynamic folk-rock instrumentation, visceral lyricism, and his warm, commanding vocals, “Pollution” is a song that will tug at heartstrings.

“’Pollution’ is about nostalgia, but more specifically, it’s about the desperate craving to get back to a time of simplicity and innocence,” Jonah shares. “I think there’s something especially heartbreaking about losing your innocence as you grow up, and it’s something that I think about every day.”

The 23-year-old singer and songwriter grew up in Savannah, Georgia and took up guitar at the age of six, diving deep into the instrument’s technical aspects after his jazz musician grandfather showed him performance videos. He further found inspiration in the music of guitarist Andy McKee, whose finger-style technique lit a creative fire within. “He opened my eyes to what an acoustic guitar could be,” he recalls, as he dove deeper into creating music on his own. “If you can bring somebody something with your music that they can’t get anywhere else, there’s nothing better than that.”

Jonah’s debut EP, ‘georgia got colder,’ was released in December 2022 on Arista Records. He’s already cut impressive figures with over 200+ million global streams and over 2 million monthly listeners. Jonah will be embarking on his first headline tour in October before joining Phillip Phillips as support on his ‘The Drift Back’ tour through November. Emerging hyper-pop act SOPHIE SHREDZ reveals her new single, “EYEZ ON ME.” Blending exhilarating hyper-pop production with infectious pop melodies and classic rock instrumentation, she delivers an explosion of personality with each new release.

“EYEZ ON ME” is a frantic explosion of vibrant synths, heavy-hitting bass, and distorted vocals.“‘EYEZ ON ME’ is about a time in my life when I was getting a lot of negative attention and it felt like all eyes were on me,” Sophie explains.

Instead of wallowing, she transformed her pain into a rebellious anthem about embracing the attention of the spotlight. “This song was a huge turning point in my life. I realized I didn’t care about what anyone thought about me. It’s about regaining confidence and making the best of bad situations.” To put it simply, “EYEZ ON ME” is the ultimate IDGAF anthem!

SOPHIE SHREDZ is the project of New Jersey-born, Nashville-based vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Sophie Ruggiero. She was raised listening to classic rock greats like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Heart, and became an avid guitar player by the age of 7. While her current sound certainly draws influence from the experimental electronic world of hyper-pop, she also imbues her songs with a tapestry of classic rock influences, like show-stopping guitar solos and driving percussive elements.

Sophie is redefining what it means to be a modern day pop star — she’s bold, evocative, openly queer, and a fierce advocate for female empowerment. Her music reflects her own personal and artistic growth and experiences, making it both relatable and authentic. She hopes her music will inspire others to pursue their dreams and unlock a new level of confidence within themselves.
