In 2008, Russell Simmons pulled together all the forces that made hip-hop to celebrate the inauguration of America’s first black president, Barack Obama. Four years later, he has the pleasure of celebrating the occasion yet again with The Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball II.

On the eve of President Barack Obama’s second inauguration, Russell pulled off one of the most star-studded hip-hop events of the year at the Harmen Center in the Chinatown section of Washington D.C. The bash not only celebrated President Obama’s victory, but also paid homage to those who dedicated time, money and effort to reelect the President during his campaign, in addition to celebrating some of the names that shaped hip-hop.

On the scene were the biggest old-school rap artists, including Doug E. Fresh, Swizz Beatz, MC Lyte, Fab Five Freddy, and Yo-Yo.

The hosts of the night were none other the gorgeous La La Anthony and the talented Terrence J, who kept legions of hip-pop’s honored guests entertained throughout the event.

It truly, truly was an event so glamorous, that it forced 2 Chainz to retire the necklaces for the night and get suited up in a sleek Versace suit. That takes star power!
