White people love slang words.

Do you remember the first time your white friend yelled “Hollaaa” in an effort to express excitement, but it came out more like a “Hollerrrrrrrr?”

Thanks to Middle America’s obsession with an age old booty-shaking dance, the word “twerk” is now being added to the Oxford Dictionary. Guess we’re forever indebted to Miley Cyrus for this accomplishment (insert sarcasm).

Over the past year, words like “ratchet” and “twerk,” and phrases like “turn up” have been mumbled, yelled, and uttered at an alarming rate, and it’s time for EVERYONE, black, white, and indifferent to take a slang chill pill.

I know white people love to be “in the know” and “hip to the game,” but when statements like, “oh my God, Nicole, your umbrella is broken. That’s soooo ratchet,” are overheard in New York City regularly, everyone needs to take a vocabulary time out.

Don’t know if white people are being pretentious when they attempt to properly incorporate slang words into their daily vocab, but they sure know how to beat a word into the ground.

While twerking is being scientifically defined by ABC News and meticulously being dissected by stay-at-home moms practicing for Tuesday’s pole dancing class, we really wish the word would disappear out of the English language.

So in honor of twerking’s death, we rounded up 19 words white people have cabbage patched into the ground.

Take a few minutes out of your day to walk through the graveyard of slang below.
