Kanye West has had an awesome year.

Not only did Kanye welcome a beautiful baby girl into the world, he also released his polarizing sixth studio album Yeezus. But what’s most noticeable about Kanye in 2013 is that his “stream of consciousness” has been at an all time high.

We went back through the entire year and combed through all of his interviews, tweets, and concerts, to round up some of the craziest, most grandiose statements he’s made in 2013.

Everything from denouncing Jay Z’s “Suit & Tie” collaboration with Justin Timberlake to declaring Kim Kardashian the most beautiful person of all time, Kanye has said, well, Kanye has said a lot of things. And of course, we didn’t forget about his “You ain’t got the answers” comment during his interview at Sway In The Morning.

It might seem ridiculous to some, but we compiled the 88 craziest things Yeezy declared all year. Take a few minutes (or 20) out of your day and enjoy a year’s worth of Kanye’s stream of consciousness below.

February 2013: Kanye Rants About Jay Z’s “Suit & Tie” Collaboration with Justin Timberlake, throws shade at President Obama, mocks corporations, and blasts the Grammys.

On Jay Z: “I got love for Hov, but I ain’t f*cking with that Suit & Tie.”

On President Obama: “I don’t give a fuck what the president got to say.”

On The Grammys: “Remind me again the Grammys can suck my d**k. I’ve never won a Grammy against a white person.”

On Corporations:  “Can I sell your drink for you, please? So you can help me put on a better show, please, corporations? Can you please support me, please? Me, Kanye West? I swear I’m a nice n—a now. I swear I’ll put the pink Polo back on.”

March 2013: Kanye vs. MTV Hottest MCs list & reveals he gave Sway his “first TV.”

On MTV’s Hottest MCs List: “I feel like for them to put me at No. 7, they had to bring up things they didn’t like, like they didn’t like ‘Cruel Summer’ album. And I’m like, ‘That’s a compilation. It’s not all rappers on [the album].’ I mean, ‘Cruel Summer’ has ‘Don’t Like (Remix),’ ‘New God Flow,’ ‘Mercy,’ ‘Cold’ … you know? … And ‘Clique!’ You can’t name five records like that on an album. But they want to diss me and be like, ‘He did Cruel Summer and he can’t say he’s not part of it because he’s on eight records.’ Ain’t nobody bringing up that ‘Diamonds (Remix)’ verse. There ain’t no verse in a year that’s f–king with that verse!

It’s definitely not about a body of work. Possibly it could be about overall MC, rap swag. Sean is a great rapper, period. It checks all the boxes. What happens with these type of things and the people that review it, when I come in and I have the pink Polo and the backpack, I’m checking all the boxes of that A Tribe Called Quest era and all that, so they want to champion it. They don’t like Givenchy Kanye. They don’t like Kanye in a kilt, they don’t like Kanye in a relationship.”

On the “hottest bar of 2012:” “Yeah, I don’t think it’s them going really bar-for-bar. I said, ‘lucky I ain’t have Jay drop him from the team!’ Ain’t no bar in the entire past 12 months that’s hotter than that bar!”

On Sway: “Really, I didn’t really want to call and talk about the No. 7 list, I just wanted to tell everyone I gave Sway his first TV…And he needs to remember that.” *hangs up phone*

June 2013: Kanye’s New York Times Interview

These are the 12 quotes you need to read:

1. “I think you got to make your case. Seventh grade, I wanted to be on the basketball team. I didn’t get on the team, so that summer I practiced. I was on the summer league. My team won the championship; I was the point guard. And then when I went for eighth grade, I practiced and I hit every free throw, every layup, and the next day I looked on this chart, and my name wasn’t on it. I asked the coach what’s up, and they were like, “You’re just not on it.” But I wasn’t on my eighth-grade team, because some coach — some Grammy, some reviewer, some fashion person, some blah blah blah — they’re all the same as that coach.”

2. “Anytime I’ve had a big thing that’s ever pierced and cut across the Internet, it was a fight for justice. Justice. And when you say justice, it doesn’t have to be war. Justice could just be clearing a path for people to dream properly.”

3. “It’s only led me to complete awesomeness at all times. It’s only led me to awesome truth and awesomeness. Beauty, truth, awesomeness. That’s all it is.”

4. “I don’t have one regret.”

5. “Yeah, I think that I have like, faltered, you know, as a human. My message isn’t perfectly defined. I have, as a human being, fallen to peer pressure.”

6. “I would hear stories about Steve Jobs and feel like he was at 100 percent exactly what he wanted to do, but I’m sure even a Steve Jobs has compromised. Even a Rick Owens has compromised. You know, even a Kanye West has compromised. Sometimes you don’t even know when you’re being compromised till after the fact, and that’s what you regret.”

7. “I love the fact that I’m bad at things, you know what I’m saying?”

8.  “I’m forever the 5-year-old of something.”

9. “I knew I was going to make it this far; I knew that this was going to happen.”

10. ”I’m the type of soul that likes to be in love and likes to be able to focus. And that inspires me.”

11. “Yeah, kill self. That’s all I have to say. Kill self.”

12. “I will be the leader of a company that ends up being worth billions of dollars, because I got the answers. I understand culture. I am the nucleus.”

July 7, 2013: “Black Skinhead” video leaks, Kanye reacts.

July 20, 2013: Kanye declares second verse of “New Slaves” as the “greatest of all time.”

September 11, 2013: Kanye West “Pusha T” Stream Of Consciousness.

“Aye yo this Yeezy right now speaking to y’all. This the heart of the muthaf*cking city, act y’all ain’t have that muthaf*cking Clipse album and shit. Act like y’all ain’t base y’all whole shit, whole lifestyle off this n*gga Pusha T. Everything is Pusha T. Pyrex Vision, that’s Pusha T. Fear Of God, that’s Pusha T. This n*gga the heart of the muthaf*cking culture for you culture vultures. This the only n*gga spitting that wild muthaf*cking hip-hop shit right now, that’s why I stand next to this n*gga. I don’t give a f*ck about none of these corporations, none of these f*cking sellouts, this muthaf*cking Pusha T.

This is the f*ck we make. We make good music, we make good music. We don’t give a f*ck about how much god damn money you make, we make good music.

I’m a (stutters)…I’m off that Goose right now, I might get loose right now. We don’t give a f*ck…..we don’t give a f*ck! N*gga this is that culture. This is that culture….for everybody stealing the culture, for all n*ggas trying to do their camo prints at MAGIC this is for f*cking Pusha T.

All these n*ggas trying to extend their muthaf*cking t-shirts, trying to throw numbers on the back of their shit….this muthaf*cking Pusha T. ‘I have a t-shirt line, cause I got numbers at the back of my shit,’ F*ck you!

This DONDA, this Matt Williams, this Virgil Abloh, this Ferris Bueller, this is muthaf*cking Pusha T. I’m done!”

September 24, 2013: Kanye’s Zane Lowe BBC Interview

These are the 37 most grandiose, hilarious, and amazing things he said during the interview:

1. “Rick Rubin is not a producer, he’s a reducer.”

2. “I showed people that I understand how to make perfect. ‘…Dark Fantasy’ could be considered perfect. But I’m not here to make perfect, I’m here to crack the pavement and make new grounds sonically and society, culturally.”

3. “So I’m gonna take music and I’m going to try to make it three-dimensional, like in Star Wars, and the hologram’ll pop up out of R2-D2. I’ma try to make something that jumps up, and affects you, in a good or bad way.”

4. “There would be no Kanye West if it wasn’t for Michael Jackson.”

5. “This Michael Jackson…Michael Jackson is not even black…he’s Michael Jackson.”

6. “I’ve gotten to the point where Michael Jackson didn’t break down…I have reached the glass ceiling…as a creative person…as a celebrity.”

7. “I look around and say ‘wait a second there’s no one around here in this space that looks like me’ and if there are..they’re quiet as fuck!”

8. “I brought 10 years of product that’s been added to humanity.”

9. “How many motherfuckers have you seen with a leather jogging pant?”

10. “Me and Virgil brought the leather jogging pants six years ago to Fendi and they said ‘no.’….So when I see Hedi Slimane and it’s all like, OK, this is my take on the world. Yeah, he got some $5,000 jeans in there, there’s some good sh*t here and there. But we culture. Rap is the new Rock N Roll. We the rock stars. IT’S BEEN LIKE THAT FOR A MINUTE HEDI SLIMANE, IT’S BEEN LIKE THAT FOR A MINUTE. We the new rock stars and I’m the biggest of all of them. I’m the number one rock star on the planet.”

11. “You guys don’t understand…you guys don’t understand…you guys don’t understand that I did the Yeezy’s and they eBayed for $90,000 and people wanted them like bad as whatever, right. But I didn’t get a call from Nike the next day.”

12. “No, I don’t think you’re really hearing what I’m saying. As a creative, for you to have done something to the level of the Yeezy’s and not be able to create more…so when I say ‘clean water was only served to the fairer skin,’ what I’m saying is, we’re making product with chitlins. T-shirts — that’s the most we can make. We can have our best perspective on T-shirts, but if it’s anything else, your ‘Truman Show’ boat is hitting the wall.”

13. “…And I paid my own money..that I get paid….for doing “Gold Digger,” which I never really liked that song, but I knew I’d get paid for doing “Gold Digger.”

14. “Look at Gaga, she’s the creative director of Polaroid. I like some of the Gaga songs. What the fuck does she know about cameras?”

15. “I wanted to take this step to say, we got this new thing called classicism, it’s racism’s cousin. This what we do to hold people back.”

16. “And we got this other thing that’s been working for a long time, where you don’t have to be racist anymore it’s called self hate. It’s like real estate of racism.”

17. “When someone comes up and says something like, ‘I am a God,’ everybody says, who does he think he is? I JUST TOLD YOU WHO I THOUGHT I WAS: A GOD. Would it have been better if I had song that said, ‘I am a gangster’ or ‘I am a pimp’? All those colors fit better on a person like me, right? But to say you are a God, especially when you got shipped over to the country that you’re in, and you’re last name is a slave-owner’s, how could you say that? How could you have that mentality?”

18. “I always feel like I can do anything. That’s the main thing people are controlled by. They’re slowed down by the perception of themselves. I was taught I could do everything. And I’m Kanye West at age 36.”

19. “And I put on that pink Polo and said “broke broke and broke” through that TV and now you got an interview with me.”

20. “I have to remind Pusha T that he’s Pusha T.”

21. “Everybody’s being served nasty lunch food.”

22. “They will play this interview in 5 years. They will play this interview in 10 years and say ‘he called that, and that, and that.”

23. “I’m just looking forward to the opportunity to speak to this brother [Kendrick Lamar] as much as possible….He’s one of our future messengers, and I’m gonna give him them jewels.”

24. “If you’re a Kanye West fan, you’re not a fan of me, you’re a fan of yourself. You will believe in yourself. I’m just the espresso.”

25. “But why do you think the song “N*ggas In Paris” is called “N*ggas In Paris?” Because n*ggas was in Paris!”

26. “It’s funny; you drive in a Maybach past a homeless person and you ask, Who’s more free? You could be trapped to your possessions. ‘You gotta do this next deal ’cause you gotta do this with your house and you gotta get this car.’ And everybody [who] stay next to you last name is Jones, and you trying to keep up with all of them. And that’s what it’s like to be a celebrity. Rappers and musicians trying to compete with ball players with way bigger contracts. Meanwhile, music is the Titanic that’s going down like this.”

27. “You don’t realize. I am so frustrated. I am so frustrated. I’ve got so much I want to give. I’ve got ideas on color palettes, ideas on silhouettes and I’ve got a million people telling me why I can’t do it.”

28. “…that I’m not a real designer. I’m not a real rapper either. I’m not a real musician either. Like I don’t know how to play the piano. I’m an artist. I went to art college.”

29. “I’m blessed and cursed by my level of education. To be a visionary, all you have to do is make decisions based off of your eyes instead of your ears and your memory.”

30. “When I was in 4th grade I was drawing Jordan’s because my mama couldn’t afford them.”

31. “People say life isn’t fair, and unless you’re Kanye West, or this pretty girl who dates a soccer player, or your parents had money… You don’t get to wear. And you hear it, we love Versace. Versace. Versace Versace. Versace. We love Versace. Versace is the greatest designer of all time!”

32. “I’m talking about us… the new slaves…the people who love fashion.”

33. “My cousin stood up and told this story about how his mother was a tailor so he won ‘best dressed.’ A bunch of people in the lineage of my family have won ‘best dressed.’”

34. “People can say ‘what do you mean you want to help the world, and you’re so considered about fashion?’ It’s illegal to be naked, but it’s not illegal to not listen to music.”

35. “No flip flops for black dudes. I don’t care where you at. Wear some hot ass Jordan’s on the beach.”

36. “I don’t expect to be understood at all.”

37. “I’m a slave to my passion…to my mission.”

November 18, 2013: Kanye addresses Confederate flag controversy.

On the Confederate flag: “People got bills, don’t nobody care about the Confederate Flag to that type of level. I know that this symbol means this, but I’m just gon’ pay all your bills for one year and I’ma ask you: does it mean that same thing? It’s not the question of racism and symbols, but more of being free as an artist. As an artist, I can use whatever I want to use to create with.”

November 21, 2013: Kanye talks about MTV VMAs & Bruno Mars.

“Bruno Mars won all the motherf*cking awards and sh*t. And I was thinking about what Rick Rubin told me, because I don’t give a f*ck about no TV show. What I care about is if you’re an artist and you work hard as f*ck and the streets say that you deserve that sh*t. Can’t no motherf*cking networks try to gas everybody up so they can sell some product with the prettiest motherf*cker out.”

November 25, 2013: Kanye announces he scrapped Nike Deal, calls himself the “Tupac of Product.”

“So then I start turning up in the BBC interview, so [Nike] said, ok cool, we’re gonna give you a bigger sandbox to play in. We’re gonna give you this amount right here to design, and two collections a year, and 30 skews — that’s the amount of items that you have. Would that make you happy, Kanye? And I said, well I need royalties. It’s not even like I have a joint venture. At least give me some royalties. Michael Jordan has 5%, that business is $2 billion. He makes a $100 million dollars a year off of 5% royalties.”

“Nike told me we can’t give you royalties because you’re not a professional athlete. I told them, I go to the Garden and play one-on-NO-ONE. I’m a performance athlete.”

“Did I really ANYTHING? YES! Did I really EVERYTHING. 100,000 percent. I’m 100,000 percent at all times.”

“It’s people that work in offices trying to tell me how to think, when I got a better perspective. I live in Paris.”

“I’m going to be the Tupac of product…”

“I’ma be the first hip-hop designer and because of that….I’ma be bigger than Wal-Mart.”

Kanye on Kim Kardashian’s beauty

“Ladies and gentleman, all barbershops, fashion designers, architects, corner stores, wall street, all over the world, y’all acting like this ain’t the most beautiful woman of ALL TIME! Wait a second, y’all acting like, arguably of human existence. Top 10. Of human existence. I don’t give a fuck what type of jacket she got on!”

November 26, 2013: Kanye declares that Sway Calloway “Ain’t Got The Answers.”

“How Sway? You ain’t got the answers Sway. I’ve been doing this more than you. You ain’t got the answers. You ain’t been doing the education. You don’t have the answers though. You tryna give me advice, but you ain’t spend $13 million of your own money to try to empower yourself!”

“You know what Nike told me when I asked them? ‘We ain’t sure’ You know what they told the store though?….They said, ‘If you want that Red October you gotta take these 10 other shoes.’ They told me “they ain’t sure’  but then they told them, ‘If you want that Red October…’ but legally.. MARK PARKER. I’ma put Mark Parker all on the Summer Jam scream.”

“I’m standing up and telling you. I AM WARHOL. I am the number one most impactful artist of our generation. I am Shakespeare….in the flesh. Walt Disney. Nike. Google.  Now who’s going to be the Medici family and stand up and let me create more. Or do you want to marginalize me until I’m out of my moment.”

“I was born to be me.”

“Started from my mama, now I’m here.”

December 3, 2013: Kanye talks to Atlanta’s V-103 radio station.

On W Magazinewho he says tried to make a mockery of him earlier this year for trying to “learn out loud:”

“They don’t want a n**** to open up his mind and start looking at all these other places,” he said. “As long as we’re controlled by the idea of just having a nice car, a Louis Vuitton bag for Christmas we won’t ever sniff out and want that factory over there or ever empower ourselves.”

On him and Kim being more relevant than corporations:

“The [biggest corporation’s] amount of money can only equal the amount of relevancy that me and Kim have,” he said. “I might not be a billionaire, but I’m a trillionaire in relevancy.”

On his plan to use his “power” to help him succeed in the fashion industry:

“Obama couldn’t have won without the black vote. I am going to use the power that we have to break through, to push those barriers that Michael [Jackson] had to break…”

And alas, he added this tidbit:

“Jackson didn’t get to lay down with Kim Kardashian every night,” Kanye explained. “He had to take whatever that was to relax. I be relaxed. I be happy.”
