Occupying Wall Street started out as a small gathering of young students on September 17, 2011, but quickly turned into a worldwide movement.

It's simple. The chants of "We are the 99 percent" have been bellowing on Wall Street for over a month. The 99 percent refers to the difference in wealth between the top 1 percent and the other citizens of the United States.
