Occupy Wall Street started out as a small gathering of young demonstrators gathering in Zuccotti Park in Lower Manhattan on September 17, 2011. 

This relatively small group of young people who are protesting government corruption and financial greed have quickly turned into a worldwide movement. 

STORY: Profiling The 99 Percent

The chants of “We are the 99 percent” have been bellowing on Wall Street for over a month. The 99 percent refers to the difference in wealth between the top 1 percent and the other citizens of the United States.

Since then, we’ve heard amazing stories from countless young people relaying why they decided to join the movement.

GlobalGrind will profile the 99 percent who have been Occupying Wall Street from the very beginning.
