Written by Regina Robertson, she interviewed actress and former first Lady of the Turks and Caicos Islands, regarding the upcoming tv special on cable network, TV One, “LisaRaye: The Real McCoy.” In an interview that was billed as being “no holds barred,” (mind you with about four questions making it into the magazine). Ms Raye talks about her divorce from the former Premier of Turks and Caicos Island, Her ex-husband’s resignation amid a government probe into possible corruption, and that Pesky little public domestic violence incident. And although the article is a bit generic, since it didn’t tell me anything new that I didn’t know about McCoy, there was one quote by her that did make me raise an eyebrow. After saying that she was granted her divorce she said that she was waiting to complete a financial settlement, which was as the article quoted “the most important part.” Then when asked about her feelings of the troubles in her marriage becoming public she responded, “ I was disappointed…but respect the power of our media. There were also stories about me being a gold digger. I’ve never dated anybody who didn’t have money. I was my own millionaire when I got married.”

Then Essence asked, “You admit to being a gold digger?” And her response was “Honey, I was digging for gold in high school; I’m way past platinum now! I hope your momma told you to get with someone who can take care of himself so he can take care of you and what you’re bringing to the table. That should be the definition of digging.”
