A toddler who loved cruising on her Big Wheel and holding the end of a jump rope died Thursday after being shot in the head as she sat with her two sisters in the back of her parents’ car Wednesday night in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side.
The shooter apparently was targeting the girl’s father, police said.
Cynia Cole died just before noon at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital, a hospital spokesman said. Cynia — called ‘Coco’ by her family — was just 20 months old.
The girl’s mother, Alberta Cole, said doctors had been trying to reduce swelling inside her daughter’s head.
