GlobalGrind had the wonderful opportunity to go behind the scenes with VH1’s “Love & Hip-Hop” starlet Somaya “Boss” Reece. Somaya’s working on her latest Latin party song “Fiesta” and GlobalGrind spent the afternoon with Ms. Reece to get an exclusive behind the scenes look at her new video.

GlobalGrind also talked to Somaya about the craziest fiesta she’s ever been to, plus “Love & Hip-Hop” drama with Olivia. Somaya’s making a name for herself and is invading music with her sexy, uber-feminine Latina appeal and girl power mantra.

EXCLUSIVE: Somaya Reece “Twitter Beef Seems To Like Me”

Check out the exclusive interview below!

GlobalGrind: How super amped are you about shooting the video for your latest song “Fiesta?”

Somaya Reece: I’m really excited because as people heard from “Dale Mami” that’s my direction. I’m really happy, and I’m really happy my girls came out to support me.

What was your inspiration for the video?

Well, for fiesta …I don’t really know. If anybody knows Latinos, we party all night and at any time. Baby showers, I just got my tooth pulled, we’re going to have a party! (Laughs) Really, it was because I just wanted to have a very lighthearted fun fiesta type of a song.

“Fiesta” was really inspired by that, and that’s how the video came about. I visualized what I wanted and at first I was thinking about doing a funny video. Then I was like nah, “Fiesta” sounds like fun. So I changed it around so we’re just going to have a really good time; a girl party all night long. We’re going to terrorize the boys, you know, “Team Somaya girls” are just going to rock out and have fun.

What’s the craziest “Fiesta” you’ve ever been to?

Probably when I go overseas and I don’t really know my fans and they’ll invite me out to these crazy parties. They’ll be like ‘Hey, Somaya come out to this party,’ and you know, I’ll go. Those are always really crazy and fun, those impromptu parties. Then of course my birthday parties are always crazy (laughs).

When is your birthday?

June 17th.

Gemini is the sign of the twins or two sides, can you describe the two sides of Somaya Reece?

I’m very business driven, which is always there, but I stand up for myself. I’m really nice, but I can go from zero to bitch really fast (laughs). You know. Like it’s not true, what people are saying about me ‘backstabbing.’ I don’t have time for that. If I don’t like you I’m going to let you know. Like you see on the show, I try my best to reach out to people, but you can’t keep pressing my buttons expecting me to bow down. I’m sorry, I’m not a child and you’re not my mother. That’s really the Gemini side of me, I’m very direct.  I think everyone has those characteristics though.

On the last episode of “Love & Hip-Hop” you told Olivia about herself, what do you think of the show so far, including the editing?

The editing versus what really happened. Well, Olivia was going around saying, ‘I didn’t walk away from  Somaya.” She went around saying a lot of stuff that wasn’t true, and that’s not me. I don’t do shit talking. I stick to the facts. I wouldn’t mention anything if a situation wasn’t true. She needs to accept responsibility that she was the cause behind a lot of the drama. Your pride and your ego shouldn’t get in the way of accepting responsibility. I’m just Somaya and I’m not trying to be anybody I’m not. There were some parts of the episode that were cut out. Chrissy had to go to the van to get Olivia and she wouldn’t get out of the van. You saw part of her running away from the problem. You can’t run away from conflict, especially when you started it. They were like [to Olivia] ‘Yo you got to confront her, Somaya just confronted you, why don’t you just address it?’

I think Emily pointed out on the show how Olivia runs away from issues.

She did. Olivia’s always running away. Again, real life is much different from what you saw on TV, because in real life, Olivia doesn’t know anybody on the show. She had only known the other girls for three weeks, which is crazy because she was giving out addresses on people. You understand? She did, because she wanted to get a good look on TV. You can’t be like ‘Yo, you’re my dawg, you’re my girl’ and we just met. I know that people click, but still. I wouldn’t do that to my worst enemy. Even if we weren’t getting along, I would never give someone’s address out or where they’re hanging at, to someone they’re having problems with to get a good look on TV. This is who I am. And I called her out.

Do you and Olivia speak at all?

Basically, I never really talked to any of them, because I didn’t really know them. I can’t call you my ‘bestie’ just because we’re on a show together. Being on TV, they kind of put you in a role to play, but the only thing is I don’t have to play a role. I was being myself the whole time, in the sense of I really just came out here to beast for my dreams. I talked to Emily and Mashonda, but Mashonda I met at the VH1 shoot. She’s very sweet. Emily has been very nice to me. Chrissy really isn’t that bad off camera to me as much as people want to think. Olivia from the get-go treated me very weird. She has really bad energy. It’s a show, so it’s making a good show and everyone is talking about it.

Would you do a second season of “Love & Hip-Hop?”

At first I was a little skeptical about it, because I wasn’t watching the show. But now I would definitely consider it. There are a lot of questions about the show that are left unanswered and are unclear. Like people want to know why we were beefing and I think if we did a season two it would be pretty dope. If we did a second season hopefully we’d get an hour. People want to know about Chrissy and Jim Jones’ engagement and where does Olivia’s career go? There are a lot of things that are unclear and people want a follow up story.
