Eddie Murphy and Ben Stiller are teaming up to rob a bunch of rich people in the new movie Tower Heist.

This comedy caper, about a bunch of working stiffs who seek revenge on the Wall Street swindler who stiffed them, looks absolutely hilarious.

We caught up with our good friend Brett Ratner to discuss how this movie came about, but first, he wants people to know:

“Eddie’s a comedic genius, nobody should ever underestimate him. He’s a legend and this was his idea and it’s just so dope. So he hired me to do this movie. It was such a cool thing to be working with him. It was definitely a huge honor.”

Brett continued giving us a little more insight to the film, because it came about through another one of his movies.

Rush Hour came from me growing up watching Eddie Murphy. That’s how the idea of Rush Hour came, from me watching 48 Hours and Beverly Hills Cop and growing up with Eddie.

So, when Eddie said why don’t we come up with a version of Beverly Hills Cop and when I did, and when we were working on it he said, I have an idea.

So it was his idea to do a movie which is a heist in a tower in Manhattan. So I went and brought it to Brian Grazer because he’s done a lot of movies with Eddie and I got the guy who wrote Rush Hour, Jeff Nathanson. He wrote all the Rush Hour movies and we showed the script to Ben Stiller. Ben and Eddie agreed to do it together.

I grew up idolizing Eddie Murphy so for me to work with him and Ben and to have both of them in one movie together was just crazy.”
