When he wakes up, the first thing on Meek Mill‘s mind is “Get this paper.”

The young Philly rapper is breaking down the doors of hip-hop, with no remorse or mercy.

His recently dropped mixtape Dreamchaser, hosted by DJ Drama, is a raw and real inspiration to anyone and everyone listening.

Mill refuses to sugarcoat any part of his story.

VIDEO: MEEK MILL RIDES THROUGH HIS OLD HOOD IN “IMA BOSS”

Having gone to jail and experienced many of the disturbing aspects of growing up in the hood, he has amazing stories to tell.

Though they may be difficult to listen to, Meek forces you to listen through his fast & energized rapping style.

You can literally hear the hunger in his voice and in his soul. There is nobody in this music game as hungry as Meek Mill is right now … and because it’s that obvious, he has gained a lot of respect.

MUSIC: CORY GUNZ AND MEEK MILL: YMCMB MMG

Signed to Rick Ross‘s Maybach Music Group, Meek can handle making music with the best of them. With songs like “Get Dis Money,” “House Party,” the huge anthem “Ima Boss,” the inspirational “Dreamchasers” that features Beanie Sigel and his “N*ggas In Paris” freestyle, Meek Mill is killing the industry.

Some of the lyrics that made me reflect on my own life include:

“It all started from the basement, me, my pen, and my pad/Started thinking about things I never had/Was broke as a joke, Ain’t never laugh/ I woke up and went and got it and now they’re forever mad/How can you hate me where I came from?/ When just a year ago I was the same one/Them dudes you call your homies be the main ones/You’d be surprised what n*ggas do soon as the fame come.”

This young man is just what music needs right now.

Meek is helping to bring back the passion that you used to hear in rapper’s voices.

Meek Mill is helping bring real lyrical content into the mix again.

I appreciate him taking his frustrations with life and putting them into songs that people can relate to. People need to remember that if not more important, the journey is at least just as important as the destination.
