Only Jay-Z can turn NYC into his own personal carnival.

Last night, Jigga Man himself threw an unbeatable party at Pier 54 in NYC to support his Shawn Carter Foundation, which provides kids with college scholarships.

STORY: Jay-Z Fires Off A Warning Shot To Lil Wayne

The Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation was created in 2002 by Jay-Z and his mother Gloria Carter.

Since then, over 750 students have been awarded over $1.1 million dollars and have had the ability to attend college and pursue their dreams!

GlobalGrind caught up with Hov at the event to get the scoop from Jay himself.

The incomparable hip-hop mogul gave all young adults who are headed to college some important advice:

Focus on what you love. If you don’t apply your all, you’re going to lose focus. Go after what you want and focus on your dreams.

Jay knows that many kids are interested in the arts and entertainment and as someone who has built himself an empire in the business, Jay offers more words of wisdom for students:

Obviously, I love the arts and entertainment. I want you to know what you’re up against ― you’ll always meet someone along the way, just apply yourself and don’t lose focus. You could have a degree in business, but what does that mean? The blue collar jobs that we all relied on are leaving, so you have to do more. You have to focus on what you want.

Even though Jay was serious about his quest to raise money, he was still all smiles as he walked the red carpet with his mother for the event, as he should be. Just think of all the good he’s doing!

Hov’s friends A-Rod, Questlove, Taye Diggs and even the NYC Police Commissioner, Ray Kelly came to show their support.

The Carnival raised $950K. Entrance tickets went for a thousand dollars and prizes ranged from Gibson guitars to Nets tickets, a Hublot watch and even a Bentley! Nice!

Party goers were greeted with bottles of Ace of Spades and classic carnival rides like the Sizzler, the Zipper and amazing food.
