UK singer Katy B has been taking over the club scene with her dub-step/R&B influences.

With hit songs like “Lights On” and “Witches Brew,” Katy B has taken the UK by storm and is now making her way to the U.S. to continue her reign.

Katy released her debut album On A Mission, and she’s been on a mission ever since.

GlobalGrind caught up with the UK singer to talk about her love for dub-step, her R&B influences and of course, her celebrity crush.

Check out the exclusive interview below!

GlobalGrind: Who are a lot of your musical influences, because you’re very soulful. Who are you inspired by?

Katy B: Growing up I listened to a lot of R&B, anything from Destiny’s Child to Mary J. Blige and Faith Evans. But then, on the other hand, growing up in London you see so many different sounds.

If you could work with anybody, what would be your dream collaboration?

One of my biggest influences is definitely Alicia Keys because I used to play the piano, I used to play classical piano and I didn’t really understand why I was learning classical until I had piano lessons. I wanted to play the piano, but I didn’t come home and listen to classical music. Then when Alicia Keys came out I thought ‘This is amazing.’ I could really relate to it.

Do you play any other instruments besides the piano?

I used to play the French horn and a bunch of other random things. The piano I got quite good at, plus carrying my big French horn to school was really embarrassing passing the boys.

What’s been the most surprising thing you’ve learned about the music industry since you’ve gotten famous?

I’m not too sure. I don’t know whether I have been surprised. I think I knew what I was getting myself into. I think it’s kind of what you expect. I liked my life before, and I liked my friends and family and everything. I was doing music kind full time before. I think I want to stay the same. And I want to keep on enjoying myself.

If you were sent to the most deserted part of London, and you can only bring three albums, what three albums would you bring?

Three albums. I would bring Kelis Kaleidoscope. I’d go Amy Winehouse Frank. And I’d bring D’Angelo Voodoo.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I’ll get back to you on that one. Let’s come back to that one at the end.

Do you have any celebrity crushes?

I really fancy James Franco.

What’s your favorite thing to do besides make music?

I like going to the spa. I like getting pampered.

What’s been your most memorable moment while on tour?

We went to Ireland and the speakers caught on fire!

What’s your favorite color?

My favorite color is a mix. I’m going to do green and pink.

What’s your favorite thing to eat?

Chicken. I like chicken. Spicy chicken. Barbeque chicken, something like that.

Who’s your favorite person?

My mom.

Out of all the things you own, what is your most prized possession?

Probably my piano.

You went on tour with rapper Tinie Tempah in the spring, how was that?

He’s such a lovely, warm guy. He’s really sweet. He’s really funny and really cool. His whole show was really slick and never boring at any parts. I liked him a lot.

Are you working on any upcoming projects or collaborations?

I’m just kind of basically trying to work on the next album!
