While it was originally reported that Sacha was banned from attending the Oscars, the powers that be have changed their minds.

“We haven’t banned him,” says an Academy spokesperson. “We’re just waiting to hear what he’s going to do.”

The Academy spokesperson also goes on to say that Sacha’s stunt wouldn’t be fair to the other attendees. According to The Hollywood Reporter:

“We don’t think it’s appropriate,” the Academy spokesman tells THR of the prospect of Cohen “hijacking” the red carpet to plug his movie. “But his tickets haven’t been pulled. We’re waiting to hear back.”

Now we just have to wait to see what the funny man will do. His movie Hugo is nominated for an Oscar, so he has every reason to be in the building on Hollywood’s biggest night. The Dictator hits theaters in May.
