When a fan asked Rihanna, “Why is your hair so nappy” and she replied back, “Because I’m black bitch!” she made it clear that it was a new day for her. She was emancipated.

She credited the incident for her change. The fight she had with Chris Brown exposed her problems to the world and in a strange way, it gave her freedom. Since then, she’s been under the microscope and it’s clearly having its effect on her.

DETAILS: Rihanna Tells The Fans To Stop Wasting Their Time

She told Elle Magazine:

“That was my opening . . . one less skeleton in the closet, one less burden, one less secret; now you know that, so you can say what you want . . . I don’t have anything to hide.”

But this isn’t about what she’s hiding, this is about sharing. Over the past month, reporters have asked Rihanna about her private life. Reporters have found out the hard way, she’s single, and doesn’t like talking about her private life.

Rumors keep putting her with someone. Whether it’s Chris Brown, Drake, Rob Kardashian, Ashton Kutcher, her best friend Melissa, that one fan she took a picture with; the list goes on. But the reality? Aside from her ex Matt Kemp, Rihanna has been single since the incident.

It was the fight that caused Rihanna’s most private moments to be exposed to the world, and damn it, she’s sick of it. The world continues to focus on things that don’t and shouldn’t matter.

They exposed her bruised face after a fight with her then-boyfriend. They exposed her naked body to the world shortly after they exposed her bruised face. Then she had to talk about all of this stuff because life goes on, albums have to be promoted, and people are focused on things that according to Rihanna, shouldn’t matter.

A few nip slips, unflattering angles, public hook ups, and see-through shirts later, she has reached her breaking point. She’s not answering the questions anymore. She’s taking a stand.

Rihanna needs a hug, she needs to be allowed to create art, and be happy. Happy with a ounce of OG Kush, but unfortunately the world will not stop caring about her personal life.

They will continue to ask questions, and continue to want to know what’s really going on between her and Chris Brown. They will continue to judge, pick and pry. I urge Rihanna to continue to shut down, continue to not answer and not share. Then maybe one day they’ll stop digging into her personal life and start admiring the art that she puts out.

Until then, we can just applaud her when she finds love in a hopeless place.
