In 2009, Paranormal Activity was the horror movie that left viewers tugging sheets and checking for monsters under their beds. In 2010, Paranormal Activity 2 scared the crap out of moviegoers again, and the third time was the creepy charm for Paranormal Activity 3 in 2011.

STORY: 10 Questions We Want Answers To In “Paranormal Activity 3”

Unlike some gory killing horror movies, Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli was scaring people with things they couldn’t see and focusing on believability rather than action. It was that differentiation that caught the attention of famed filmmaker Steven Spielberg and catapulted Oren’s activity.

GlobalGrind’s very own Ben Lyons caught up with the Paranormal Activity director to talk about his newest film, Chernobyl Diaries. The film focuses around a group of tourists exploring the former home of workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor that was left abandoned. They soon encounter ghoulish incidents in the empty town that reminds them that they are not alone.

Even though he is the maker of the scariest movies, Oren doesn’t want to frighten young filmmakers off their budding career path, so he drops some golden knowledge for them as well.
