For weeks now, many have been wondering what caused Chicago Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. to take a medical leave of absence from his office. Now, an official statement from his camp has finally cleared up the matter.

STORY: Did Jesse Jackson, Jr. Try To Commit Suicide?

A statement from Congressman Jackson’s office says the Chicago Democrat is receiving “intensive medical treatment” for a “mood disorder.”

The statement Wednesday gave no further details about his location.

The statement says Jackson is at a residential treatment facility and is responding positively to treatment. It says he’s expected to make a full recovery.

Staff members say the statement is from Jackson’s physician, but the doctor’s name and location won’t be released due to federal privacy laws.

On June 10th, Jackson went on leave and his office initially said he was being treated for exhaustion. But staff said last week that his condition was worse than previously thought and required inpatient treatment.

They also disclosed Jackson has been battling emotional problems. Yesterday, rumors were swirling around the internet that the Congressman tried to commit suicide, but those were denied by his office.

Either way, we wish the Congressman a healthy recovery.
