Rick Ross undoubtedly has a knack for dropping the right record at the right time. Just when it gets all G.O.O.D. with the music, MMG comes back with another smash that shuts sh*t down. Peep this new “Diced Pineapples” record off the new God Forgives, I Don’t LP. Remember a few years ago when Rick re-did the Special Ed classic “Magnificent?” “Pineapples” is that kind of vintage Miami Ross record. Of course with Drake singing on the hook, on the heels of Dreezy’s gold Status 2 Chainz “No Lie” record, Rozay can’t go wrong. Can he?

Speaking of  2 Chainz, life is G.O.O.D. for Titty Boi these days. As an MC — in my Stephen A Smith voice — he is not only class personified, but the “Tru” definition of hard work, determination and never giving up. At last, his debut album is upon us, and the second single is “Birthday Song” featuring Kanye West. Now this isn’t Rhianna’s “Cake Cake Cake.” Nor is this your mother’s favorite happy birthday song, unless your mom’s happens to be Cherokee D’Ass. “Birthday Song” is, and will be, another 2 Chainz classic (tell em!). Enjoy…

J. Cole has “The Cure” for these hot summer days. Cole World flows under a perfectly crafted Beyonce “Take It To The Moon” sample, all this layered over a smooth beat for a hot new record called “The Cure.” This is lyrical wizardry at its finest. Cole tells the story of coming up and remaining humble when you reach it. He’s still “flexing” on the haters though! If you’re still getting used to the way this Young Sammy Davis does his thing, this record should cement your doubts. Peep.

Shouts to Brooklyn on this. The kid Troy Ave has been kingpinin’ dopes lines and rhymes to you for a more than a minute. If your not familiar, you should google his Harry Powder Trilogy saga. This week, a new leak, “I Know Why You Mad,” hit the streets fresh off that new Mick Boogie Represent The Stars and Strips mixtape. You”re definitely not going to hear this fire joint beyond the mixtape and mixshow radio circuit, but it’s still must hear quality music.

Hip Hop music has always had a home in Detroit. From J Dilla, Eminem and Royce to the now ever popular Big Sean, The D and hip-hop have gone hand-in-hand. Perhaps one of the newest slept on, but still dope artist, is Boldy James. This new track “One of One” is a good way to get caught up on James, if you’re already late to the party.

Until We Read Again…
