RAW VIDEO EYEWITNESS UT shooting witness 

The lockdown on the University of Texas campus has been lifted, though police are still investigating a shooting at the Perry-Castaneda Library on the university’s campus.

A gunman opened fire Tuesday morning inside the campus library, then shot and killed himself. Police are seeking a possible second suspect.

UT police spokesperson Rhonda Weldon says no one else was injured. EMS confirms they have treated no one for injuries related to this incident.

An emergency alert warning of an ‘active shooter’ and ‘shelter in place’ was listed on the UT website more than an hour after the gunfire happened on the sixth floor of the Perry-Castaneda Library.

A gunman has killed himself at the University of Texas. The police say a man opened fire with an automatic weapon at the Perry-Castaneda Library this morning, then shot himself. No injuries have been reported. Currently authorities are looking for another suspect. According to news affiliates, the suspect was carrying an AK-47. 

The Perry-Castaneda Library is the university’s largest library. It stands across the street from Jester Hall, which houses more than 3,000 students.

The campus remains on lockdown and all classes have been canceled. SWAT teams have arrived. University emergency medical services is not treating anyone at this time. See the Statesman for photos from the scene.
