The violence in Chicago has spread to the music world, as 16-year-old rapper Joseph Coleman, aka Lil Jojo, was gunned down late last night.

STORY: BANG BANG! Lupe Fiasco Says “Chief Keef Scares Me”

Jojo has been in an ongoing beef with a member of up and coming Chicago rapper Chief Keef’s team, Lil Reese.

Jojo was a part of the Brick Squad clique and released a diss song called ‪”3hunna k” aimed directly at Lil Reese and Chief Keef’s squad.

A YouTube video released a days ago shows Jojo and Reese engaging in an argument on the street and someone in the video can be heard uttering these foreboding words: “Imma kill you.”

The situation continues to escalate, as Chief Keef has been tweeting:

-Niggas dry snitching #ShhhhhhhhBrickboyz

-hahahahahhahahahahahahahaahhAAHAHAHAHA

#RichNiggaShit

-I Kno Da Real Brick Squad #300

-Its Sad Cuz Dat Nigga Jojo Wanted To Be Jus Like Us #LMAO

As reported by WGNTV:

The shooting occurred at about 9 p.m. Tuesday in the 6900 block of South Princeton Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood, police said.

Officers found Coleman unresponsive on the street with a gunshot wound, police said.

Coleman had been riding a bicycle when, according to a witness, a gunman inside of a tan or gray vehicle opened fire, striking him at least once, police said.

Coleman, of the 13000 block of South Evans Avenue, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and pronounced dead there, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police were investigating whether the shooting was sparked by a gang conflict in the area, authorities said.

The violence in the Chi has to stop, as more young men continue to die senselessly.
