Republicans are up to their old dirty tricks again – taking cheap racist shots at the nation’s first African American POTUS.

STORY: Did Mitt Use Notes During Debate?

Whether they’re desperate or just plain racist, many of the GOP heavyweights are using racial undertones to convey stereotypical ideas about President Obama.

In a recent interview on Fox News, former Republican Gov. John Sununu described the President as being “lazy” and “incompetent” during his lackluster performance at the first presidential debate.

“He is absolutely lazy and detached from his job.”

When confronted about his inflammatory racially-charged insult on MSNBC, Sununu doubled down on his denigration toward the president without remorse.

“What people saw last night, I think, was a president that revealed his incompetence, how lazy and detached he is and how he has absolutely no idea how serious the economic problems of the country are.” He continued, “He didn’t want to prepare for this debate. He is lazy and disengaged.”

Likewise, former Republican presidential nominee Newt Gingrich described the President as unmotivated and said that he isn’t doing his job because “he needs large amounts of rest” and needs to “play basketball.”

“I’m assuming there’s some rhythm to Barack Obama that the rest of us don’t understand, whether he needs large amounts of rest, whether he needs to go play basketball for a while. I don’t, you know, watch ESPN. I mean, I don’t quite know what his rhythms are.”

Gingrich also said that he is “not a real president.”

“I mean, he really is a lot like the substitute referees in the sense that he’s not a real president.

I mean, he doesn’t do any of the things presidents do. He doesn’t worry about any of the things presidents do.”

Republicans are desperate to defeat President Obama, but reminding Americans that he is Black and retorting stereotypical remarks are not going to help Mitt Romney win the presidency. When will they ever learn?!
