October 17th is right around the corner!

No, it isn’t a holiday off from work, but it is an Apple geek’s dream day. The day that Apple is said to be announcing the reveal of the highly-anticipated iPad mini.

Reports of the new tablet have neither been confirmed nor denied from Apple’s camp, but silence from Apple normally means the rumors hold some truth.

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Apple has already placed an order for a staggering amount of iPad Minis.

The Wall Street Journal reports:

Some component suppliers to Apple in Asia say they have received orders to make more than 10 million units of the smaller tablets in the fourth quarter. That is roughly double the order that were placed for Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablets in the same quarter, these suppliers say.

The figure indicates that Apple believes demand for the product will be strong, despite stiff competition in the market.

And in the midst of all this iPad Mini talk, designer Martin Hajek created a detailed set of renderings of the rumored iPad Mini, based on leaked specs and parts photos, and we seem to believe he is pretty spot on.

Check out the photos of the mocked iPad Mini in the gallery above.
