The brother of a teacher shot and killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School joined the throngs of people urging President Barack Obama to ban assault rifles.

BLOG: Today Is NOT The Day To Talk About Gun Control, Today Is The Day To Finally DO SOMETHING About It!

What makes Matthew Rousseau special is that he is the first family member of a victim to do so. After his sister Lauren Rousseau, 30, was shot trying to protect the 14 or 15 children in her class, Rousseau spoke out about mass killings in America:

Matthew Rousseau, who sister Lauren was among the dead, said it was ‘ridiculous’ how often mass slayings happen and that the slaughter has to end.

He said that America should be a ‘safe country to live in’ and that he is so upset by the over gun killings that it has brought him to tears.

Matthew, 27, said that ‘at the very least’ the President should reinstate a 1993 law that banned the sale of assault rifles that lapsed under the George W Bush administration.

Change seems to be on the horizon. After Obama’s vow to use whatever power his office held to prevent another event like Sandy Hook, other politicians have stepped up to push gun-control agenda.

Obama will tap Vice President Joe Biden to head gun-control policy and gun advocates like Senator Joe Manchin have even changed their minds about gun regulations.

Rousseau added that we shouldn’t have weapons used in the military, but he seemed realistic about his push to gain more regulation on guns.

“A (total) ban is not going to happen in this country. I wish it could. President Obama, when he spoke to my family, he said there’s too much of a cultural difference, that’s the struggle that we’re going to having making changes, there’s so much cultural difference in this country. He meant there’s people in different parts of the country that feel very strongly about having guns. He said we’re gonna have to make some changes.”

Lauren’s memorial service is due to take place on Wednesday near her family home in Danbury, Connecticut, the same day six other victims are laid to rest.
