Ho Ho Ho and a bottle of rum! If you’re planning on spending the holidays with your family, you may very well need a bottle of rum, if not to ease the stresses of holiday preparations, then to make these awesome Christmas-inspired cocktails.

Whether your choice of spirits is champagne or vodka, we have rounded up some holiday recipes to keep things fluid this holiday season.

Check out the recipes below to get in the holiday spirit with spirits. 

Cherry Temple:

Update a children’s classic and give it a grown folks twist, this one is not for the kiddies. 

For 2 cocktails, combine 2 ounces of grenadine with 12 ounces of champagne, 2 ounces of St. Germain and a splash of lime juice. Fill the glass with plenty of fresh cherries to give it an extra holiday splash. (Effortlesschic.com)

Cider Jack Cocktail:

For each drink, shake 2 ounces applejack liqueur, 1 ounce lemon juice and a splash of grenadine or simple syrup in a shaker with ice. Strain into an ice-filled glass. Top with hard apple cider and serve with a cinnamon stick. (Food Network)

White Cosmopolitan

Looking for a winter wonderland? A white Cosmo should suffice! For this recipe you’ll need 1 cup white cranberry juice, 4 ounces vodka and 2 ounces Cointreau. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add cranberry juice, vodka, and Cointreau. Shake to combine well. Strain into two large martini glasses. Garnish and serve immediately and bring the winter wonderland inside Sex and the City style. Candy Cane Cooler


Take those candy canes off the tree and prepare to get a little Christmas crunk with this fun and minty drink. 

1 tbs. crushed candy cane or peppermint candy

1 1/2 oz. mint-infused vodka

1/2 oz. B&B (Benedictine and brandy)

1/2 oz. half-and-half

Ice

Peppermint stick

Mint sprig for garnish

Place crushed candy cane bits into pint glass. Muddle the candy cane slightly, breaking up the bigger pieces. Do not over-muddle into a powder. Add vodka, brandy and half-and-half and stir. Pour into a shaker with ice. Shake lightly to chill and strain into old-fashioned glass full of ice. Add a peppermint stick and stir. Garnish with a mint sprig. (Food Network)

Champagne Mint Mojito

Who said the holidays had to be all about the red white and blue? We can get down with a little bit of pink, especially in the form of this pink Champagne Mint Mojito.

1 Tbsp mint

1/2 tsp sugar

1 tsp lemon or lime juice

2 ounces light rum

4 ounces champagne

2 ounces seltzer water

Muddle mint, sugar and lemon/lime juice in bottom of glass until mint is broken apart.

Add rum, champagne and seltzer. Stir well and ENJOY!

Peppermint Paddy

Over at Food & Wine, Todd Thrasher gives some stellar pointers to help recreate flavors of classic candies in cocktails, and the peppermint paddy is a prime opportunity to get into the holiday spirit with a little rum kick. 

1 ounce brandy

1 ounce white crème de menthe

1/2 ounce dark rum

4 ounces white hot chocolate

Chocolate-flavored whipped cream and crushed Peppermint Altoids, for garnish (optional)

Combine the brandy, white crème de menthe, dark rum and hot chocolate in a heatproof mug and stir. Top with the chocolate whipped cream and crushed Altoids.
