Seven French supermarket chains have taken frozen beef meals made by Findus and Comigel off the shelves, after discovering foods sold in Europe labeled as beef was actually horsemeat.
The scandal has a huge impact on distributors in the UK, France, Sweden, Ireland and Romania. It is feared that the list of horsemeat distributors are growing.
Food Minister Guillaume Garot said he wanted to ensure that all contentious products had been removed.
The investigation is still under way. Thousands of beef products are being tested for horse DNA, but results may not be in until April.
Wow! Is it safe to eat anything anymore?
