Asteroid 2012 DA14 will be flying near the earth today, but don’t worry! Scientists are predicting the asteroid to miss the earth by about 17,150 miles.
Still, this is the closest that an object of this size has ever been predicted to come near the Earth.

The asteroid has about a 150-foot diameter and its closest approach should come around 11:25 a.m. PST
Although this asteroid will not graze the earth, it will pass inside the ring of geosynchronous weather and communications satellites.
