It girl Quvenzhane Wallis will be starring in Annie, and we can hope to see the results by Christmas 2014!

DETAILS: The Onion Responds To Controversial Quvenzhane Wallis Tweet

The 9-year-old actress, who just had to deal with being called a ridiculous slur by comedic news site the Onion, was cast by Will Smith as the lead in the iconic film.

The film won’t be Annie exactly as we know it, but instead is an adaptation of the musical.

Though people are speculating about the December release date – because it isn’t the best time to release a movie if producers are trying to win a Best Picture Oscar – we’re excited.

As we all know, Will’s daughter Willow was tapped to play the role, but she’s passed up on it, because she’s seemingly grown up too fast.

Congrats to Quvenzhane on the part – she will certainly do the role justice!!
