Finding the perfect dress is not always easy. Fortunately for the right amount of money you could have owned some perfect pieces from the wardrobe of Princess Diana. In an auction that took place this past weekend, a collection of dresses once owned by the Princess fetched over $1,000,000.

The prized possession was a midnight blue velvet Victor Edelstein gown that Diana wore when she danced with John Travolta at a State dinner given by the White House in November, 1985. Originally thought to fetch £200,000, the dress ended up being sold for $362,400 to an anonymous British bidder as a surprise to cheer up his wife. Not too shabby!

Two of the other dresses from the collection went for £108,000. Is that too much to ask for a little piece of history?  We’re not sure but for the full story on all of the dresses, press play on the video above
