In addition, Apple is working with Asian manufacturers to make a cheaper version of its 4-inch iPhone by switching out the high-end casing currently on it. Clearly, the two phones are a result of Apple feeling the pressure from competitors such as Samsung, who have similar products for much more affordable prices.

According to Neil Mawston, an analyst at research firm Strategy Analytics, “There isn’t really any major differentiator between the players at this phase.”

He goes on to explain that Apple needs to get on top of more traditional methods of marketing such as speeding up new product launches and making production more cost efficient. At least until you can “transform the industry with a revolutionary design”, says Mawston.
