Sorry Ace Hood, but these days, you might want to wake up in a new Toyota instead of a Bugatti.

For starters, it’s probably in your price range. And it’s nice enough to turn heads, but humble enough that you’re not looking all loud, a la Nicky Barnes in American Gangster.

But on a serious note, what you thought about Toyota, especially its famously reliable but boxy Avalon, may all change after you see what they’ve rolled out this year.

No longer a vehicle for your great aunt, the new 2013 Toyota Avalon is a surprisingly sleek, stealth, smart, but stylish alternative to what you might remember.

Combining the reliability and longevity of – let’s say – a Camry, the hybrid technologies of a Prius and the sexiness of a Lexus, Toyota has pulled off one of its greatest feats, appealing to both a younger and older demographic.

Take its features for example. Starting at only $31,000, the Avalon comes in both hybrid and traditional models and is tricked out with technology that includes color navigational and app screens in the dashboard…but also little personal touches like hand-stitching along the panels.

Yes, I watched a man hand-stitch the panels at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing plant in Kentucky. No fake advertising there.

But if that doesn’t impress you, maybe the Avalon’s new “eBin” will. A space designated solely for your smartphone is placed right in the center console so you’ll have somewhere to place both your electronics and your Starbucks coffee. Bonus: this little cubby lined with a non-slip surface offers you the ultimate lifesaver; built-in wireless charging (thank you baby Jesus).

It’s the simple things, guys.

But if none of that tickles your fancy, Toyota has sealed the deal by enlisting actor Idris Elba for their movie-like ad, “Only the Name Remains.” The Bond-esque, spy-themed campaign follows Elba as he embarks on a secret mission, all the while running from an old enemy.

And what car does he use to get away, (while looking scrumptious, we might add)? A swaggy, black 2013 Toyota Avalon.
