What happens when you assist two rapists in covering up a sexual assault just because they are the star players on your football team?
Well, if Steubenville is any indication, you get a contract renewal.
Basically, the head football coach of Steubenville High School is able to keep his job after the rape controversy that rocked the small Ohio town. Reno Saccoccia was given a two-year extension by the local school board, even after he allegedly tried to sweep the rape of a 16-year-old girl under the rug.
The renewal is a weird decision, being that the coach is still on the hook for criminal charges. If a grand jury finds him guilty of refusing to report the assault, then he and the local school board could be in some shit.
Thankfully, people aren’t happy about it.
Currently, there is an online petition calling for Saccoccia’s dismissal. As of Tuesday, the petition had more than 130,000 signatures.
