On Thursday, Police officers searched Steubenville High School for more possible evidence against those who may have been involved in the case of Ma’lik Richmond and Trent Mays. In mid-May, the two boys were charged with raping a 16-year-old girl at a party.

Now investigators are working to ensure that no other laws were broken in association with that case.

“What I hope people will believe when we’re done is that we did everything we could to find the truth and that justice was done,” Attorney General Mike DeWine said. “What you’re seeing today is just part of that effort.”

Police are concerned that adults, particularly parents of other children who attended the party, knew about the rape, but failed to report it to the proper authorities.

A leading suspect is the head football coach, Reno Saccoccia. Text messages introduced during the trial show that he might have known about the rape, and even may have tried to cover it up.

More information to come.
