The weather is warming up and it’s time to put on our shorts and tank tops, and of course, our sunscreen. As the summer and longer days of daylight fast approach, the time spent away from our computer screens is filled with time at the beach, outside bars, concerts, festivals, fabulous vacations and more UV rays.

Protecting the skin from UVA & UVB damage is crucial no matter your age, race or lifestyle. But skin-protecting is no longer the daunting feat of caking on streaky sunblock and sacrificing beauty routines.

Thankfully, on the market today there are a plethora of choices and alternatives for functional and beautiful sun protection. BB & CC creams that conceal, heal and provide sun protection are new, hot and totally in.

To get you all geared up for summer rays, we consulted with our resident beauty expert and professional makeup artist Myrna Daher, who give us a few tips and tricks on how to perfect incorporating sun protection into everyday makeup routines.

Choose products that multitask:

If you’re already a minimalist when it comes to your makeup, choose products that have more than one use, because many people find it to be a bit much to apply their daily skin care regimen on extremely warm days. So opt for products that can provide coverage.

Here are a couple of my favorite multitasking sun protection products: Dr. Jart’s BB cream is great for acne prone people. This product is my favorite for those who have post acne scaring, as it has silicone which helps even out the texture of the skin. The consistency of this product is a bit thicker and needs to be blended in with your fingers or an anti-bacteria sponge. The finish is dewy, leaving the skin radiant and feeling lightweight.

Pick what is right for your skin:

Estee Lauder makes a product for oily skin in their DayWear line. This BB has to make the list because it is a great anti-aging beauty balm. It contains hyaluronic acid, which is essential for keeping skin youthful and nourished. It also has antioxidants of Vitamin E and C, and great coverage along with an SPF 35 for great protection in the sun.

For more mature skin, Dr. Brandt Flexitone BB Cream is the ideal stop. It has self-adjusting pigments in addition to ingredients that aid in moisturizing, evening out skin tone, softening fine lines and wrinkles, and features an SPF 30. It has a mousse-like texture and a glowing finish.

Another product for maturing skin is Dr. Jart’s Premium BB SPF 45. It has skin-firming ingredients. It will brighten and tighten the skin when applied; it also boasts a natural finish and high SPF for longer sun protection.

Change, or don’t change:

For my girls who do not want to stop their daily skin care regime, just change out your SPF. Philosophy makes a great oil-free oxygen moisturizer. “Take a Deep Breath SPF 30” is great for all skin types but mostly oily skin. Boosted with antioxidants and very hydrating, this SPF will have your skin glowing!

Last but far from least, Arcona Reozone sunscreen is very unique. It comes out with a little tint. Since it is not a tinted moisturizer, you only need to use a little. It comes out tinted to help even out any hyper-pigmentation or photo-damage. You only need a little because it’s essential to blend in thoroughly. The tint becomes translucent and also leaves a great base for makeup!

Add these products into your daily routine and not only see a difference in the radiance in your skin, but feel beautiful as you are!
