You can’t really be worried about all the anti-gay haters when President Barack Obama is calling your line.

That’s just what happened yesterday after Jason Collins came out as the first professional gay sports player…ever!

President Obama telephoned the NBA player and congratulated him for coming out.

According to a White House aide, the President called Collins Monday evening to express his support and said he was impressed by his courage.

Press Secretary Jay Carney even had some encouraging and supportive words for Collins.

“Here at the White House, we view this as another example of the progress we’ve made and the evolution that has taken place,” Carney said. “We commend him on his courage and support him in this effort and hope that his fans and his team support him going forward.”

Now that’s big! This definitely signals a real change in this country…for the better!
