It’s been over two weeks since Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev allegedly detonated two pressure cooker bombs at the Boston Marathon; an act of terror that killed three and injured more than 200.

Since April 15, authorities have shut down and reopened the city of Boston, engaged in a shootout with the Tsarnaev brothers, captured the youngest of the two and charged him with using a weapon of mass destruction. He is now being held in a small cell in a federal medical detention center.

While it suspected that DNA on one of the bombs belonged to the wife Tamerlan Tsarnaev an analysis of DNA obtained from pieces of the Boston Marathon explosives found no matches. Tamerlan body was reported to be buried in Boston but it appears no one want’s any parts of that.

Here are the latest updates in the ongoing case.

1. Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s Cause Of  Death Revealed

A funeral director revealed on Friday that the bombing suspect died from gunshot wounds and blunt trauma to his head and torso.

According to Huffington Post:

Worcester funeral home owner Peter Stefan has 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s body and read details from his death certificate. The certificate cites Tsarnaev’s “gunshot wounds of torso and extremities” and lists the time of his death as 1:35 a.m. on April 19, four days after the deadly bombing, Stefan said.

Tsarnaev’s family was making arrangements for his funeral on Friday as investigators searched the woods near a college attended by 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

2. No One Wants To Bury The Bombing Suspect

A funeral home director has been scrambling to find a cemetery that would bury a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings ignoring protesters gathered outside his business, proclaiming everybody deserves a dignified burial service no matter the circumstances of his or her death.

Initially the body was taken to a North Attleborough funeral home, where it was greeted by about 20 protesters, before being taken to Stefan’s Graham Putnam and Mahoney Funeral Parlors, which is familiar with Muslim services.

Stefan says:

“My problem here is trying to find a gravesite. A lot of people don’t want to do it. They don’t want to be involved with this,”

He continues:

“I keep bringing up the point of Lee Harvey Oswald, Timothy McVeigh or Ted Bundy. Somebody had to do those, too.”

3. The Bombings Were Originally Scheduled For July 4th

Two U.S. officials said Dzhokhar Tsarnaev told interrogators that he and his brother initially considered setting off their bombs on July Fourth.

Yahoo! News:

Boston police said they planned to review security procedures for the Independence Day Boston Pops concert and fireworks display, which draws a crowd of more than 500,000 annually and is broadcast to a national TV audience.

Massachusetts state police spokesman David Procopio say, authorities plan to look at security procedures for large events held in other cities, notably the massive New Year’s Eve celebration held each year in New York City’s Times Square.
