New images of South African Olympian Oscar Pistorius‘ home reveal the blood-spattered floors where model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, took her last breath.
Steenkamp, 30, was shot down by Pistorius on Valentine’s Day in what the famed runner calls an accident. He told authorities that he believed Steenkamp was an intruder, so he shot her through the bathroom door.
But the images, which show the bloody bathroom and floors, also give insight to officials who are trying to decide if Pistorius was wearing his prosthetic legs – a clue that will determine if the murder was premeditated.
It is thought that the low position of the bullet holes will be used by Pistorius’s defense team to argue that he was not wearing his prosthetic legs at the time of the shooting, so could not have planned the murder.
The murder, accidental or not, is still under investigation. As always, our thoughts and prayers to Steenkamp’s family and friends.
