We haven’t heard much from Nelly this past year, but he’s making a comeback from his brief hiatus from the rap game with his new song and video “Just a Dream.”
In “Just a Dream” rapper Nelly professes his love to a mystery woman and reminisces about the good times in a dissolved relationship. With Nelly “ringing” (rap/singing) over a smooth beat and mellow baseline, “Just a Dream” is reminiscent to Nelly’s crossover track “Over and Over” featuring Tim McGraw. The video on the other hand, is nothing like we’ve seen before from the St. Louis rapper.

The video is filled with explosive imagery that leaves the viewer pondering the deeper meaning of the video. Packed with stunning visuals of a Ford Mustang hovering over a west coast beach, shattering eye irises, and a gigantic burning ring, “Just a Dream” is a whimsical video far from what many would call the “norm” for a rap video.
“Just a Dream” is currently #8 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and could definitely be considered a mainstream hit with its pop sound.
