Ma’lik Richmond, 16, is planning on appealing the verdict.

“We have the right to appeal and that is a right we will be exercising,” said Walter Madison, Richmond’s attorney.

Madison contends that his client shouldn’t have to register as a sex offender, because he is a “child.” On the Piers Morgan show last night, he even argued that Richmond’s “brain is not fully developed.”

“I don’t believe that a person at 75 years old should have to explain for something they did at 16 when scientific evidence would support your brain isn’t fully developed … when evidence in the case would suggest that you were under the influence.”

Piers Morgan fired back:

“I got 3 teenage sons and when you get to 16, 17 … your brain’s developed enough to know you shouldn’t be raping girls.”

Madison continued, saying that you shouldn’t be judged for something that happened years ago.
